You will regret if you select a
wrong place to keep your MacBook. Some office cubicles and domiciles do not
give you a choice and you have to place your MacBook on a single desk provided
in the dorm or workplace. But if you are using a MacBook at home and you have
an option to choose a suitable place for keeping it, consider the important
points given below to ensure proper functioning of MacBook.
Keep things cool
You may notice that your new
MacBook is silent, but the super fast Intel multi-core processor of MacBook
generates heat. You need to make sure that your chosen location is shielded
from sunlight and far away from the heating vents. You can also purchase a
cooling pad for laptop that elevates the base to allow air circulation
underneath your device.
Outlets are a key
Your MacBook requires at least
1 nearby outlet. Three of the following outlets are ideal for any laptop:
· A basic AC outlet: if you are
traveling abroad, use an appropriate adapter for current.
· A telephone jack: you will
need a telephone jack if your external USB modem is Lion-compatible. You can
use it to connect your modem to the internet or receiving and sending faxes.
· An Ethernet jack: you might
need this jack if you are using the built-in Ethernet port of MacBook Pro or
MacBook. It is used to for connecting the laptop to the wired Ethernet network.
Do not forget the lighting
You will need a floor or a desk
lamp for lighting, at a minimum. Working on a laptop in dim lighting may cause
harm to your eyesight. Illuminating the keyboard of your MacBook is a great
idea.
Plan to expand
Allow some additional space on
both sides of the MacBook if your laptop is placed on a desk or a table. By
leaving some extra space on sides, you will have enough room to place external
peripherals, external keyboard, mouse and powerful speakers.
Tips
· For a general protection
against light you can always make an addition of a surge protector. It is not
necessary to use UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) because the battery of your
MacBook will automatically start in case of any power failure.
· It is better to choose
wireless networking for the new MacBook if you prefer sending data over
airwaves.
· You should consider using a
shelf for laptop if you plan to keep a handy external keyboard. These metal or
Plexiglas stands elevate your MacBook at least 2 to 3 inches above your desk. A
stand puts your screen at a better ergonomic position. With the help of a stand
you can elevate your screen for a better placement of mouse and external
keyboard.
· Use a metal or Plexiglas
stand for maintaining a proper airflow beneath the laptop and avoid any damage
caused by over-heating.
